• The UTIP initiative started with commissioning of a study of the Hydropower Potential in the Zambezi between Cahora Bassa and Tete. A development project has been identified with a first stage comprising Mphanda Nkuwa dam and hydropower plant.

• A further extention of Mphanda Nkuwa, coupled with Boroma dam for downstream re-gulation is possible.

This is called the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project.
